I have been studying and practicing Buddhism since1966, when I began to sit zazen with Ven. Thich Thien-An. During the 1970s I did graduate work in Religious Studies and Asian Studies, completing a Ph.D. in 1979. In the 1980s I began teaching at the University of Massachusetts and practicing in the Tibetan tradition under the direction of my personal lamas: initially Tara Tulku Rinpoche and later Denma Locho Rinpoche. Currently I teach Asian Philosophy at Portland State University, Oregon.

I also host a Buddhist meditation group at the Finding the Path to Liberation Buddhist Center. This web site provides access to my on-going blog and a number of my books and audio recorded Dharma talks.
