About the artist and her work:

All the images in Kayla's thankas are created using traditional iconic grid lines, colors and so forth. It is also traditional with Tibetan thankas that the background images may express the patron's or the artist's unique interests and vision. Original thankas are produced on archival quality D'Arches watercolor paper using the highest quality light-fast watercolors. The limited edition fine art giclee prints adhere to the same strict archival standards.

Kayla has been authorized to paint thankas by her lamas: Tara Tulku Rinpoche (the former abbot of Gyuto Monastery) and Kyabje Denma Locho Rinpoche (the former abbot of Namgyal Monastery). Because thankas are used as meditation tools in Tibetan Buddhism, Kayla engages in the appropriate preparatory meditation practices before each painting session. All the original thankas in this collection were commissioned by Tibetan Buddhist meditators who were seeking high quality images created with a sacred attitude.
